Scare tactics from Dr. Koger

It's just a lot of fear-mongering and demagoguery.

The bacon "shortage" that Greg posted about yesterday turns out to be at best a bunch of interest group hype. It's a non-problem in search of a solution. There's nothing to be afraid of.

Kind of like government mind-control, autism-causing vaccines, or rampant voter fraud.

  1. Two things, Hans:

First, the three things you list at the end of this post are all completely real, so you're not convincing me of anything. Why, the government was controlling my mind just the other day.

Second, if there is even the smallest inkling of a chance that there might be a bacon shortage, we need to take it very, very seriously. P*C and all that.

  2. Hans, this is exactly the response I would expect from you and Mr. Yglesias if there IS going to be a world bacon crisis and you were hoping to cash in on it. I mean, first you deflate the expectations, then you buy low, then crisis hits, then you sell high. Put your assets in a blind trust, release the tax returns, and then we can talk.

  3. The absolute worst possible scenario resulting from fear-mongering about a pork/bacon shortage is that more bacon is produced than many expected. Don't deprive me of the pleasant surprise of having bacon available where I thought it might not be. More bacon than expected is a good thing.
